THE PERSECUTED FAITH
Scriptural Reading: Mark 10: 29-31
Persecution is an integral part of our faith. It is one of the promises Jesus made to every one of his followers. Hope you know it? It is everybody's portion unless you are not travelling to heaven. It is like the pruning knife used to shapen every branch that is being prepared for fruit-bearing. It is a barber's clipper and you know why it goes to your head; to get rid of unwanted hair.
Your response to it is a major proof of your faithfulness or faithlessness. Through it, we become saints celebrated or sinners mourned forever. But it seems everybody is dodging it? Even me! It is neither pepper soup nor fried potato. Persecution is constant assault and insult from those who hate “The way” we follow and make every effort to deter us or make us derail. They are ready to inflict harm on us if it is what it takes to deter us. Most people fight back and derail in the process. We may need to rejoice that we have been found worthy to suffer in the name of the Lord just as the apostles did. It is only conviction of faith – what we have seen and heard and touched –that can make us look up and keep ongoing.
MEDITATION:
How do you think we should react to the persecution of Christians in Nigeria?

1. Pray that Christians suffering persecutions in Nigeria and beyond will not give up
2. Pray that those who have given up their faith because of persecution may return
3. Pray also that your faith may not fail you.

DAILY PROPHETIC PRAYERS
Lord, you are my Shepherd there is nothing I shall want. You make me lie down in green pastures. You also lead me beside the still waters. Lord, you restore my soul and lead me on the path of righteousness for your namesake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadows of death, I shall fear no evil. For you oh Lord are with me in all situations. Your shepherd rod comforts me with signs and wonders, deliverance and protection in the victorious name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth. Amen.
For this reason, I shall neither stumble nor fall. I shall not be a victim of accident, sickness, diseases and untimely death. I shall rise above every limitation and rejoice as you prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies.
You oh Lord have anointed my head with oil and has declared to the hearing of my enemies; “Touch not my anointed and do my prophet no harm”. By the reason of your anointing upon my life oh Lord, my cup overflows with grace, mercy, uncommon favours, divine uplifting and your blessing that makes rich and adds no sorrows in the mighty name of Jesus.
Surely, your goodness and mercy shall follow me, all the days of my life and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord, forever and ever in the most powerful name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth. Amen.
PRAYER TO ST MICHAEL THE ARCHANGEL AGAINST THE FORCES BEHIND COVID - 19.
Holy Michael, the Archangel, defend us in battle. Be our safeguard against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebukes him, we humbly pray, and do you, O Prince of the heavenly host, by the power of God cast into hell Satan and all the evil spirits who wander through the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen.
WE PRAY WITH ST JUDE THE PATRON OF DIFFICULT CASES AGAINST THE SPREAD OF CORONA VIRUS
O most holy apostle, Saint Jude, faithful servant and friend of Jesus, the Church honoureth and invoketh thee universally, as the patron of hopeless cases and things almost despaired of.
Pray for me, who am so miserable. Make use, I implore thee, of that particular privilege accorded to thee, to bring visible and speedy help where help was almost despaired of.
Come to mine assistance in this great need, that I may receive the consolation and succour of Heaven in all my necessities, tribulations, and sufferings, particularly...

...and that I may praise God with thee and all the elect throughout eternity.
I promise thee, O blessed Jude, to be ever mindful of this great favour, to always honour thee as my special and powerful patron, and to gratefully encourage devotion to thee. Amen.
